How much can I earn hosting trivia?

Earnings vary based on the number of venues and events you run. Many hosts run 2–5 trivia nights per week at different venues. You set your own rates with the venues and keep 100% of what you earn — your monthly plan covers the content and platform.

What equipment do I need?

You need a laptop or tablet, a TV or projector (usually provided by the venue), and audio gear (USB mixer, microphone, powered speaker). As a DJ, you likely already have most of this. Equipment recommendations are available on the platform Supplies page.

How do I find venues to host at?

We connect hosts with venues in your area through our Hire A Host matching system. When a venue requests a host near their zip code, we match them with Epic Trivia hosts within 50 miles. You can also bring your own venues to the platform.

What is the difference between DJing and trivia hosting?

Trivia hosting is interactive — you are running a game, reading questions, scoring teams, and engaging the crowd. It uses your mic skills and crowd-reading ability but is more structured than DJing. Many DJs find trivia hosting is a natural complement to their DJ business.

Can I run both trivia and Music Bingo?

Yes! Every operator gets both trivia and Music Bingo. Many venues alternate between the two on different nights. Music bingo is especially popular because it attracts a different crowd than traditional trivia.

Can I run trivia under my own brand instead of Epic Trivia?

Yes — this is a true white-label platform. Dashboard brand colors are yours on every subscription plan, game-screen colors come with Multi-Op and Unlimited, and logo white-labeling is available on the Unlimited Games plan only. Pay-as-you-go game purchases stay on the standard Epic Trivia logo and colors. On Unlimited you upload your own logo and it replaces the Epic Trivia logo everywhere: your dashboard, your hosts' logins, the venue display screen and your players' phones, with only a small "Powered by Epic Trivia" credit. Your venues and your crowd see your company.

How do I get paid by venues?

You set your own rates and arrange payment directly with each venue. The platform provides the games and tools — your relationship with the venue is yours. Most hosts charge a flat per-event fee, with discounts for recurring weekly bookings.

Will another host near me run the exact same questions?

You are not locked to one shared deck. Questions carry a 183-day cooldown so they do not repeat across games, the admin team can assign a different game to your date on request, and premium themed games (Taylor Swift, 80s Movies, Star Wars and more) give you content nobody else nearby is running that night. On top of that, every game is a framework — your banter, bonus prizes, tie-breakers, and Double Trouble moments are yours, and that host flair is what regulars come back for.

Do I need good Wi-Fi or cell service at the venue?

Not for the game itself. Every game — trivia and Music Bingo — pre-downloads completely to your device before you leave home: questions, images, video clips, music, slides, and Music Bingo cards. Nothing streams at the venue, so dead Wi-Fi has no effect on playback or your display. The one feature that does need a connection is phone play: teams joining by QR code, submitting answers, or marking Music Bingo cards on their phones. With no internet at the venue, you run the night the classic way — paper answer slips for trivia, printed cards for Music Bingo — and enter answers on your dashboard yourself.

What if a venue does not have a TV or projector?

Most bars and restaurants have at least one TV. If not, a portable projector works well. The display screen is important for showing questions and scores to the crowd. If a venue truly has no display option, Music Bingo can be run audio-only.
